These videos focus on how to expand brackets questions, and are aimed at around grade 4 / 5 GCSE maths. These questions are usually fairly straightforward, although it’s worthwhile practicing as they are a core algebra skill.

These types of questions appear in all the main GCSE exam boards – Edexcel, AQA, OCR and Educas – and are fairly common for non calculator papers.
- Always use one method
- Don’t forget ‘x multiplied by x’ is x²
- Also ‘x multiplied by y’ is xy
- Be careful of negative terms
