Here’s the question for this video:

1. The graph of y = f(x) is shown.

(a) Sketch the graph of y = f(x) – 2

(b) Sketch the graph of y = f(-x)

(c) Sketch the graph of y = f(x) + 3

(d) Sketch the graph of y = -f(x)

Here’s the question for this video:

The graph of y = f(x) is shown below. The coordinates of the maximum point of the curve are (-1,5) Write down the maximum point of the curve with equation:

(a) y = f(x-2)

(b) y = f(x + 4)

(c) y = f(-x)

(d) y = f(x) – 3

(e) y = -f(x)

(minimum point)

Here’s the question for this video:

Shown is the graph of y = cos x

On the grid sketch the graph of y=3 + cos x

These videos are a quick reminder of transforming graphs for GCSE maths, and are aimed at around grade 7. Questions on bounds appear infrequently on GCSE papers, mainly towards Q20 onwards, and are usually non calculator.

Transforming graphs questions can be fairly challenging, although once you have practiced, should be straightforward.
